Salary: £24,618 to £29,9952 (competitive salary based on role and experience with annual salary reviews)

We are looking for recent STEM graduates, or a final year undergraduates.
Successful candidates will join a strong growing team, working for an extensive range of clients to identify, assess, and communicate the management of safety, environment, and business risk so that they can be effectively managed.
The role will involve working on projects relating to safety, environmental risk management and permitting. This includes hazard identification, consequence modelling, risk assessments, research, and other client-led requirements.
A graduate consultant will carry out technical assistant and junior consultant activities. Key responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- Extracting data from specialist software packages
- Proof reading reports
- Generating GIS maps
- Research
- Production of document summaries
- Interpretation of data
- Interpretation of industry legislation, standards, and good practice
- Graphical representation of results
- Presentation of findings
- Technical report writing
- Supporting senior consultants as necessary
- Scribing at hazard studies and other workshops
- Be an enthusiastic individual, able to work autonomously as well as being a team player – someone who knows how important it is to pull together to get the job done
- Have a good command of written and spoken English
- Possess the ability to work under pressure and be able to organise own work schedule
- Show up to date knowledge and a good command of Microsoft Office
- Maintain complete confidentiality on all business matters
- Demonstrate a continuous improvement mind-set and the desire to achieve results
- Be willing to acknowledge and learn from mistakes, and question values inconsistent with our own
- Hold a Degree (2:1 or above) in an engineering, scientific or mathematical discipline. The RAS team has a diverse range of academic backgrounds; problem solving, and logical thought processing are the main skills required
- Knowledge of scientific principles and how they apply in practice
- Understand clients’ needs and build good relationships.
- Maintain willingness to travel when necessary (occasional overnight travel required).
- Hold a full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential)
- Knowledge of chemical engineering principles (desirable but not essential)
- Have experience in GIS software (desirable but not essential)

Once we have closed the applications, an internal review process will take place and a candidate shortlist will be developed based on the skills and experience demonstrated in the applications received. Initial interviews will then be conducted by members of the RAS team for the shortlisted candidates via Microsoft Teams (anticipated to be early March 2025 dependent upon candidate availability). Candidates that have been unsuccessful during the initial interview will be notified at this stage.
Successful candidates following the initial interview via Microsoft Teams would then be invited to an in-person interview at our RAS office in Chester (anticipated to be mid- March 2025 dependent upon candidate availability). During this in person interview, the candidates will be asked to prepare a task shared in advance of the meeting and give a short presentation.
Following the completion of the interview process, the successful candidate(s) will be notified, and a formal job offer extended.
