Environmental Risk Assessment
We are adept at Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) in numerous contexts, including but not limited to those specifically for COMAH Safety Reports. Our structured methodology has been developed in line with the Chemical and Downstream Oil Industries Forum (CDOIF) Guideline [on] Environmental Risk Tolerability for COMAH Establishments.
Our approach has been tried and tested on Upper and Lower Tier COMAH establishments as well as non-COMAH sites, receiving praise from clients and even, informally, from the Regulator. It is proven to meet current industry and regulator expectations, is streamlined and clearly structured, using the established Source-Pathway-Receptor model and filtering risks down to those which require the most attention and prioritisation.
However, our aim is not purely to satisfy the Regulator but to also ensure that the level of risk posed by your site to the environment is managed to an appropriate level. Whilst helping provide key insights that feed into contingency planning and other risk management activities, we will never advise on a disproportionate level of assessment or action and, as with the ALARP element of COMAH environmental compliance, we have presented at conferences on the topic of using the CDOIF Guideline in anger.
We are finding that the issues we raise are often common experiences across the industry and the solutions we propose are well received by industry and the Regulator alike. We are dedicated to working proactively, positively, and collaboratively towards future developments and solutions to emerging issues.
