Who we are

Established in 1993, RAS is an independent company of Risk Management Consultants which has grown from a handful of specialists in the North West to a continually evolving team working with leading companies in the energy,pharmaceuticals, and specialist chemical sectors across the world.

The team has worked on some of the biggest and most influential projects in the industry and continues to expand its specialist knowledge.

Our independence gives us the freedom to do what’s right for you, our partner, without being slowed down by corporate structures and consultancy models. That’s not to say we don’t have our own methodology and risk models, we do, but we approach every single project differently and don’t provide uniform, ‘off the shelf’ services.

When the need arises, we can call on a number of specialist consultancies to work with us in ensuring that we provide you with best practice advice, and we continue to believe in our set of simple founding principles:

What We Do

Working to internationally recognised standards, everything we do is about managing risk whether it be safety, business or environment. A lot of organisations initially come to us with a regulatory compliance need but many come back to us for support with their wider risk issues.

We believe that one of the most important principles of consultancy is to strive for continuous improvement. By asking, ‘what does good look like?’, analysing what is being done against good practice guidelines, then looking beyond we can challenge the norm and look for new ideas, solutions and process solutions, rather than relying on old methodologies.

For example, when conducting risk assessments, it is important to understand what exactly it is you are trying to identify. Sometimes all that is needed is a routine assessment, but we believe that one should always consider new guidance, new ways of thinking, and the arguments for and against different risk assessment techniques before beginning an assessment.

This openness to embracing new ways of conducting assessments, constantly reviewing methodologies, keeping up to date with the literature, and reflecting on feedback encourages continuous improvement.

Cyber Essentials is a UK Government backed scheme that helps to protect organisations against a range of the most common cyber attacks. Our Certificate of Assurance can be verified by scanning the QR Code should you be interested.

The British Standards Institution

We are a Subscribing Member of The British Standards Institution (bsi) and as a champion of excellence strongly believe in their motto of “Inspiring trust for a more resilient world”.

ISO 9001 Quality Management (QMS)

ISO 9001 Quality Management is the internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems, and we have held accreditation with bsi since 2009. It forms a vital part of our integrated management system and informs everything we do when it comes to our support of you and our business.

ISO 14001 – Environmental Management (EMS) and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHSMS)

We are currently working towards ISO 14001 – Environmental Management (EMS) and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHSMS) bsi accreditation so that you can be even more confident in our abilities to help you achieve legal and regulatory compliance in these ever-important areas. All being well we expect to receive certification in early 2025.
