Giving Back to Our City – RAS Team Day 2026
Every year, the RAS team puts their process safety hats aside for our annual Team Day; an introspective day where we review our achievements over the past year, and identify ways to improve for the following 12 months (it's also an excuse to have fun whilst doing so!). This Summer, we visited Chester's Roman Amphitheatre, supporting the preservation of one of our city's most important historic landmarks!
Working alongside volunteers from English Heritage and Cheshire West Voluntary Action, our team undertook essential maintenance activities, helping to protect a site that has been part of Chester’s story for nearly 2,000 years.
Some fun facts about the Chester Roman Amphitheatre that you probably don’t know:
- Britain’s largest known Roman amphitheatre (8000+ capacity at its peak)
- Built in the 1st century AD for the Roman fortress of Deva Victrix
- Rediscovered in 1929 before the Northern half way subsequently excavated
Over the past 33 years, this city has served as the foundation for our success and growth within the complex and dynamic risk management industry, so it was extremely rewarding to give back in such a tangible way. The RAS team collected over 22 bags worth of dirt and rubbish in total, not only restoring the visual identity of the Amphitheatre, but due to the sandstone’s porous nature, also preventing the structural decay and erosion that trapped water can cause.
A huge thank you to English Heritage, Cheshire West Voluntary Action, and everyone involved in organising such a rewarding day. It’s safe to say we earned our drinks after a hands on day in the July sun!
